We Built the Tool We Wanted to Have
Last year, I built a Wordpress site to share information about summer camps in DeKalb County. I wanted to create a resource that could help parents compare camps in the county and find programmign that fit their family’s needs. This year, (with the help of some people who love me) I built a custom tool to make it even easier for parents to find camps, filtering by age, themes, financial/care needs, and more!
I created the tool due to my own experience as a parent trying to balance childcare needs and find experiences that catetered to my children’s interests. After seeing many posts in local groups looking for camps that acceepted 4c or had programming that was specifically designed for children with disabilities, I realized that I was not alone. Plus, I kept finding out about great camps through word of mouth that I would have never found otherwise!
Although the tool is live and ready to explore, we are still in the process of adding camp data. We encourage organizations to submit their camp information through our Google Form, and we will be adding camps to the tool on a rolling basis. Organizations can request access to our online dashboard by sending an email to admin@dekalbparent.com.
